I was approached by a prominent Sunday newspaper, no, not the News of the World, although I have already appeared twice in that Sunday institution, to ask which services would be cut to pay for new cancer drugs. My reply? None, we could pay for new cancer drugs by reducing the NHS electricity bill. In spite of good work done by the Carbon Trust and estate mangers the bill is still hundreds of millions a year and hospitals are still too hot. Let’s cut carbon before we cut service.
